Learn more about what we’re doing
The process of getting switched-on will move BT's network technology to a system based on Internet Protocol technology, also known as IP.
This technology is being used because:
- It allows a much greater volume of information to travel through the network more quickly.
The advantages to homes and businesses are:
- A new generation of faster Internet services will be made possible. You’ll be able to get on with what you want to do without worrying about download speeds.
- Services will be at least as reliable and secure as they are today.
The switched-on phases
The switched-on project will happen in phases, meaning that the work will cause as little disruption as possible.
The timing will depend on where your business is based and the types of services you use.
Phone, ISDN and broadband services will be switched on at different times and through different planned activities.
The way in which you are migrated will depend on the area in which you live and the types of service you use.
